Thelma Pauline Frye

Thelma Pauline Frye, also known as Tlou, passed away on January 21, 2024, at the age of 89 in Greenwood, Indiana. She was born on September 3, 1934, in Glasgow, Kentucky, to Elmer and Pauline Dewbrew. Thelma’s family moved to Smith Valley, Indiana at an early age. Thelma met her husband (Charlie) at Arvin Automotive Industries and married January 19, 1952. They celebrated 41 years of marriage until Charlie passed. Over the years Thelma had several careers. They included: Homemaker, Grocery Clerk, Assembler at Diamond Chain, Cook at Greenwood Village and Indiana Baptist College, Frye Home and Office Cleaning, Dan Nichols Builders which lead to many private home cleaning opportunities which lasted over 20 plus years. Thelma enjoyed her time in the front yard swing, gardening, bowling, golfing, watching game shows, volunteering at church camp, Awana, Master Club and most of all hosting/cooking for her family at all of the gatherings at holidays and birthdays.Thelma was a long-time member of Suburban Baptist Church.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband Charles Frye Jr, her son John Charles Frye, her parents Elmer and Pauline Dewbrew, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Charles and Christina Frye, her brother and sister-in-law Bob and Everetta Dewbrew, her sister and brother-in-law Maybeth and Clinton Walls, her sister and brother-in-law Mary and Felix Quintanilla, her sister and brother-in-law Corene and Russell Surface, her brother Clint Dewbrew, and her Granddaughter Rachel Golden.Thelma is survived by her brother George (Angela) Dewbrew of Lexington, North Carolina, her sons James (Sharon) Frye of Jacksonville, Florida, Larry (Kim) Frye of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Gary (Nicole) Frye of Greenwood, Indiana and Terry (Carolyn) Frye of Atlanta, Georgia, daughter-in-law Beverly Frye of Greenwood, Indiana and special friend Amber Williams of Indianapolis, Indiana, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at G. H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens of Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, IN. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday January 27 at 1:00 PM at Suburban Baptist Church, 722 E County Line Road, Indianapolis, IN with visitation preceding the service from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the ongoing scholarship fund at Indiana Baptist College, where Thelma cooked for the students along with her friend and co-worker Bob Stanfield.
