Hugh Phillip Dunn passed away January 26, 2024 in Franklin. Survivors include children; Barbara Tschida, William (Bill) Dunn (Tracey) and Carol Dunn (Alex Pakter), grandchildren; Joseph (Joey) Dunn (Stephanie), Andrew (Andy) Dunn (Kelsey), Ashley (Dunn) Zinkan (Greg), Taebin Rivers, 3 step-grandchildren, Canaan Pakter, Rob Myers (Amber), and Rylee Boling, 3 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Kenneth and Richard Dunn, and 1 sister, Ila Dean (Dunn/Ross), Olsen. He is preceded in death by his wife Sarah Joan (Waltz) Dunn (d.2011), his daughter Patsy Ann (Dunn) Jena (d.2015) and his brother James Dunn (d.2015).

Hugh was born to Glenn and Norris (Kerlin) Dunn July 15, 1931 in Franklin, IN.

Hugh’s family was featured in Life magazine Dec 2, 1940. He graduated from Purdue in 1953. He received the Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year award for 1964-65 and Farm Family of the Year award in 2011. He was a lifelong member of Union Christian Church, Johnson County Farm Bureau and the Masonic Jubilee Lodge of Whiteland. He was an army veteran and served in Korea after the war. He served on the board of the Amity Fire Dept for many years and was President of the Purdue Extension Board in 1963. He was an avid card player, with Euchre and Rook being his favorite games. He enjoyed passing those traditions on to his family.

Rev. Mark Parkinson will conduct a service on Friday, February 2 at 10 a.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin, with visitation on Thursday, February 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7 p.m., conducted by the Jubilee Masonic Lodge No. 746, F & A M at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
