MORGANTOWN
Joyce R. (Parson) Kemp, age 79 passed away on Sunday morning, January 28, 2024 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Morgantown.
Joyce was born October 12, 1944 in Paragon, to her parents, the late Donald and Louise (Green) Parson. She attended Morgantown High School and went on to retire as a Relief Operator at RCA in Bloomington after 31 years of service. After retirement, Joyce worked at For Bare Feet in Brown County in the Repair Department for five years.
She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Trafalgar and a former member of the Morgantown Baptist Church. Joyce enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, making homemade jewelry and spending time with her family.
Joyce is survived by her son, David (wife, Valerie) Kemp of Morgantown; siblings, Virginia Perry of Brown County, Donald Parson of Morgantown and Judy (husband, Steve) Crider of Florida; sister-in-law, Patsy (husband, Barry) Williams of Morgantown, brother-in-law, Richard Kemp of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, David L. Kemp, whom she married on February 26, 1967 in Brown County. She was also preceded in death by a son, Chuck Kemp; siblings, Sheron Elkins, Patty Arnold, Sue Ellis, Lewis Parson, William “Bill” Parson, Barbara Parson, Richard Parson, Johnny Parson, Jimmie Parson, Mary Lou Casey &an infant sister.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 1st at 10:30 a.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation &Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31st at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
