Roscoe Wilson “Jynx” Jenkins

Roscoe Wilson “Jynx” Jenkins II, 75, of Greenwood, IN passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Indiana University Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.

He was born April 23, 1948, in Carlisle, Kentucky to Roscoe Wilson Jenkins and Robbie Ann (Small) Jenkins. He married Debby L. (Murr) Jenkins of June 18, 1977, at Smith Valley United Methodist Church in Greenwood, IN, she survives.

Jynx was a graduate of West Union High School in West Union, Ohio, and Moorehead State University receiving his B.S. and Indiana State University receiving his M.S. in Industrial Arts.

He had been an industrial arts teacher for the Wayne Township School Corporation from 1976 until 2010. He also had taught drivers education for Drive Zone in Greenwood, IN for twenty years and worked at FEDEX Indianapolis Hub for eight years.

Jynx was a charter member of Southland Community Church in Greenwood where he was a member of the Worship Team.

He was a former member of the Community Church of Greenwood, a member of the Christian Vette Club and Hoosier Corvette Club.

He enjoyed camping, car shows, and especially loved singing. He loved to talk to people and never knew a stranger.

Survivors include his wife Debby L. (Murr) Jenkins of Greenwood, IN, his two daughters Kelly Rene Davis (Alan) of Midland, Texas and Karey Lynn Butt (Wally) of New Palestine, IN, three grandchildren Selena Melendez, Gian Lucca Santos and Gunner Butt, father-in-law William “Bill” Murr (Pat) of Columbus, IN, sister-in-law Donna Cherry (Don) of Greenwood, IN and a nephew, Christopher Murr of Gulf Breeze, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents Roscoe Wilson Jenkins and Robbie Ann (Small) Jenkins, his sister Ann Wilson Jenkins, mother-in-law Jeannie (Steck) Murr and his brother-in-law Danny William Murr.

Pastors Kerry Huffman, Dean Jones, and Steve Schellin will conduct a service celebrating Jynx’s life on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 7PM at Southland Community Church, 5800 West Smith Valley Road in Greenwood, IN and will be live-streamed at www.southlandchurch.org. “Press ‘Jenkins Service’ at the top of the page to access the live-stream.” Friends may call on Monday, February 5, 2024, from 2PM until the 7PM service time at the church. A graveside service will follow on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 10AM at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN.
