Here’s what’s going on with I-69 the week of Feb. 5

Lots of work is planned on Interstate 465 for the I-69 Finish Line Project this week.

Motorists should anticipate shoulder and single-lane closures on I-465 eastbound from Interstate 70 to Hanna Avenue on the south side from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday for the installation of temporary lights. Ramp closures are expected on State Road 67/Kentucky Avenue from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday for temporary light installations as well, according to an Indiana Department of Transportation update.

On I-465 westbound, double-lane closures are anticipated for bridge beam setting over Hammond Ditch from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday. Intermittent 20-minute traffic stoppages will also occur on I-465 westbound during that time frame, INDOT officials say.

Double-lane closures are also expected for bridge beam setting for I-465 westbound over Bluff Road from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday. Similar to Hammond Ditch, intermittent 20-minute traffic stoppages will also occur on I-465 westbound from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., according to INDOT.

An existing I-465 median barrier wall will be removed from Mann Road to State Road 67/Kentucky Avenue during the daylight hours this week, with crews hauling debris off-site between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Officials ask drivers to be alert as intermittent 20-minute traffic stoppages may be needed along both eastbound and westbound I-465.

The existing I-465 bridge over the White River will continue to be demolished over the next few weeks. But INDOT officials do not expect it to affect I-465 traffic, they said.

Crews are also working to repair potholes, and could cause intermittent lane closures or traffic stoppages on asphalt portions of I-465. Emergency repairs will be made during the day, while other repairs will be made at night with overnight lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m, according to INDOT.

As for Interstate 69, only temporary lane striping is expected this week. Drivers should anticipate single-lane daytime restrictions on State Road 37 near both State Road 144 and Smith Valley Road from today to Friday, officials say.

All road work is weather-dependent and could be delayed due to inclement weather.
