Taylor, Quiggins advance to state

A pair of Johnson County seniors, Indian Creek’s Ella Taylor and Franklin’s Camy Quiggins, clinched trips to the state meet for the fourth consecutive year with top-four finishes at the Jasper Regional on Tuesday evening. Taylor, who won a sectional championship last Saturday, posted a score of 467.60 to finish a close second to Evansville North’s Anna Bunnell (471.75). Quiggins placed fourth with a score of 423.70, just 4.45 points back of third.

The state diving preliminaries begin at 9 a.m. this Saturday at the IU Natatorium. Taylor and Quiggins were both medalists last season, finishing seventh and eighth, respectively.

Trojans get past Eagles

Center Grove used a balanced attack to pick up a 60-49 win at Zionsville on Tuesday. Joey Schmitz and Michael Ephraim each scored 12 points for the Trojans (13-4), followed closely by Peyton Byrd with 10, Jalen Bundy with nine and Dylan Meador and Will Spellman with eight apiece.

Lancers earn road win

Edinburgh traveled to Crothersville and came away with a 58-39 victory on Tuesday night. Bailey Totten paced the Lancers (9-8) with 15 points, followed by Connor Ramey with 13.
