Anna Mildred Faris

Anna Mildred (Gilstrap) Faris, 85, of Avon, Indiana, entered the presence of her Savior peacefully surrounded by family on February 8th, 2024. Anna was born on November 6th, 1938, to Doyle Gilstrap and Geneva (Clampitt) Brown in Lawrence County, Indiana. She married Lowell Dean Faris on June 30th, 1957. They were married for 59 years.

Ann was a drum majorette and an outstanding graduate at Shawsick High School. She was a brilliant seamstress sewing many garments for family, friends, and charities. She worked for Singer Sewing Company and Center Grove Schools. She was a devoted member of Smith Valley Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, hosted Kid’s Club, and served on the Welcoming Committee. Ann’s heart for missions and growing her family’s faith was her mission.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Doyle Gilstrap and Geneva Brown, two brothers (Donald Gilstrap, Harold (Monk) Gilstrap) and sister Gloria Padgett, and her husband of 59 years, Lowell Dean. She is survived by her loving sister, Helen (Pete) Johnson, her children Jeffrey (Janice) Faris, Dana Averitt, Brad (Erleen) Faris, Deanna (Rich) Smith and her fourteen grandchildren, Jaclyn (Jan-Michael) Pate, Jamelyn (CJ), Boswell, Leah Averitt, Eric (Saki) Averitt, Joshua Faris, Brianna Faris, David Averitt, Christopher Faris, Stephen (Katie) Averitt, Glenn Faris, Felicity Faris, Hannah, Smith, Heather Smith, and Hunter Smith; and seven great-grandchildren.

There will be a visitation for Anna at the Church at Smith Valley, 4682 W. Smith Valley Rd, Greenwood, IN, 46142, on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. The funeral service will commence at 12:30 pm and the burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 2:00 pm.
