Aspire hosting free eclipse planning webinar for businesses

Aspire Johnson County is hosting a webinar for local businesses to ask questions about how to prepare for April’s total solar eclipse.

The Johnson County Solar Eclipse Business Planning Webinar will take place from 11 a.m. to noon Feb. 28. It is being offered ahead of the April 8 total solar eclipse, which is expected to bring thousands to the county as it is located along the path of totality.

Topics to be discussed include:

  • Why the county is expecting thousands of visitors?
  • How is the community celebrating and preparing for the eclipse?
  • How will it affect business employees and operations?
  • Will interstate exits, streets or business parking lots be jammed with traffic?

Speakers include Festival Country Indiana Executive Director Ken Kosky, Johnson County Emergency Management Director Stephanie Sichting, Johnson County Joint Incident Management Team Co-Commander Eric Funkhouser and Mandy Christenson, CEO of the White House, Tennessee, Area Chamber of Commerce. White House, Tennessee, was located along the path of totality during the 2017 eclipse, according to Aspire.

The webinar is being offered for free, and you do not have to be an Aspire member to attend. Aspire decided to host a webinar after receiving numerous questions from businesses about the eclipse, concerns they had and how they could prepare, said Christian Maslowski, president and CEO.

Other considerations that will be addressed include remote work, safety protocols and even Internet speeds. A variety of businesses have already registered to attend, Maslowski said.
