Betty Dowler

Betty Dowler, 92, died unexpectedly on February 17, 2024. Betty was born on Sept. 8, 1931, to Lon and Maude Simpson near the town of Fremont, Missouri. She was the youngest of seven children, all of whom preceded her in death except for one sister, Mary Norris who survives. Her husband, Donald Dowler, of sixty-one years also preceded her in death. Their three children are Carol (Mike) Lawlis, Sandra (Robert) Luse, and David (Marie) Dowler. Betty had eight grandchildren, Jonathan (Lindsey) Lawlis, Daniel (Karen) Lawlis, Kristen (Jon) Bendinger, Zachary (Cara) Tanselle, Rhett (Janice) Tanselle, Jackie (Rob) Mills, Kaitlin (Reid) Murff, Joseph Dowler; and eight great-grandchildren.

Betty worked at J.C. Penny and Howard Sams. She was a follower of Jesus Christ, and long-time member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood. She taught Vacation Bible School, served as deaconess, and planned outings for senior adults of her church. Betty was a blessing to all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Services for Betty are Thursday, February 22 at 12:00 noon at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory-Franklin Township Chapel, 5950 E. Thompson Rd., Indianapolis 46237. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service. She will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood following the service.
