Who’s ready for a ruff-ruff rescue?
The pups from Adventure Bay are hitting the road, and they’re inviting all of central Indiana to tag along. PAW Patrol Live! “The Great Pirate Adventure” is coming to the Old National Centre in Indianapolis this Saturday and Sunday, performing a four-show slate filled with action, suspense, laughter and music the fans young and old can enjoy.
The story follows the PAW Patrol in an effort to save their friend Cap’n Turbot after he gets lost in a cave, leading to a treasure hunt as the pups try to find the booty for Adventure Bay’s Pirate Day before their dastardly rival Mayor Humdinger.
Dog-suited dancing actors will bring the show’s canine characters to life before big-screen animated backdrops. In addition, “The Great Pirate Adventure” features all the familiar theme music that kids know from the show and brand-new songs exclusive to this production.
Audiences will also get a visit from the newest member of the PAW Patrol team, Tracker.
In the lead up to the show, PAW Patrol spokesperson Wesley Harmon took time to share what makes “The Great Pirate Adventure” so special.
What is this show all about?
In PAW Patrol Live! “The Great Pirate Adventure,” it’s Pirate Day in Adventure Bay, and the PAW Patrol pups are on a mission to save Cap’n Turbot, who has fallen down into a cavern. While they’re down in the cavern, they find a long-lost pirate treasure map, so PAW Patrol embarks on a journey to try and find this treasure.
With that story, how do you try to bring it to life in a live show?
It’s essentially a Broadway-style musical. We have a full stage with a massive LED video wall, Japanese-style puppetry to bring the characters to life. It’s much more interactive than a typical Broadway show, but it has the same technology and theatrical equipment that a touring Broadway show would have.
How much of the PAW Patrol lore and characters do you need to know going into the show?
This show is completely original, and this specific story is not featured in any PAW Patrol episode or movie. So you don’t have to be familiar at all to enjoy this performance. Of course, if you are a big fan of “PAW Patrol” you’ll get a big kick out of it, but you don’t have to be familiar with it.
Why does this character and this show resonate with people?
It really just promotes good things. It promotes teamwork, specifically, but also promotes individuality. We like to believe that kids can achieve anything in life as long as they put their mind to it. We like the fact that each pup is unique and each kid is unique.
What kind of special experiences are available in this show?
There is a VIP package, which was say stands for “Very Important Pup.” Basically, it means priority seating in the first few rows of the theater, as well as a chance to meet the characters, grab a couple photos with them and even get a goodie to take home with you.
For people who come out to the show, what do you hope they take away from it?
We really hope that this really fosters a new love of live performance and theater. It’s an opportunity to get kids introduced to live theater, but also a chance to really bone with their caregivers or their family or their friends. It’s just a good experience overall.
