Willard Maynard Workman

FRANKLIN, INDIANA

Willard Maynard Workman Jr. ‘Woody’, 86, died peacefully on February 21, 2024. Woody was born on Feb. 1, 1938 in Pittsburgh, Pa to Willard Sr. and Alice Jacobs Workman. He grew up in Kennedy Township and graduated from Stowe Township High School in 1955. Following graduation from the University of Pittsburgh in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, he received a Regular Army commission and served with the 101st Airborne Division in Ft. Campbell, Ky where he met and married Mary Michal McBride of San Diego in 1961. Woody and Michal were blessed with sons Gregory Dean, David Scott, Mark Stephen, and daughter Robin Lynn (Robin Lux). Following his resignation from the Army they moved to Indianapolis where he joined the Home Instruments Division of RCA Corporation in 1962. While working, he earned a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University. Woody served in a variety of engineering and management positions developing audio, TV, and video disc products. On Christmas Eve In 1984 Woody married Ann (Wallace) Lietz and became the step father of LuAnn Lietz and Jeffrey Lietz. After his retirement in 1994, Ann and Woody woke up every morning in Hot Springs Village, Ark. Woody enjoyed golf and building his ‘Fun 2CRR’ HO scale model railroad. His hobby won him plenty of ‘first place’ awards in the local annual contest. Woody and his live-in travel agent Ann, traveled often to see the world and visit friends and family. They enjoyed taking all the adult kids on several cruises. More love came to the family in the kid’s spouses: Leah, Ann, Karen, Joe, and Stephanie. They would provide 12 grandchildren for Grandad Woody and Grand Annie in addition to 2 great grandsons. After 26 years of enjoyed retirement, it was time to once again, be ‘hoosiers’ moving in 2019 to Franklin, Indiana. Joining Victory Christian Church provided years of fellowship which was a gift for the last years of his life. A Celebration of Life will be held in Franklin Indiana at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Victory Christian Church in Franklin Indiana.
