Jimmy “Jim” Ray Pedigo

GREENWOOD

Jimmy “Jim” Ray Pedigo, a cherished husband, supportive father, and avid outdoor enthusiast, passed away on February 25, 2024 at the age of 78.

Jim grew up in rural Kentucky which fostered his love for the outdoors. He grew up fishing and hunting while working on the family farm. He met his wife of 54 years, Karen, on a blind date in early 1966. After serving in the US Army in Vietnam in late 1966 and 1967, he returned to Indiana and married Karen in 1969.

Jim and Karen had two biological children, Jeffrey and Melissa. But several of their children’s friends also claimed Jim and Karen as their parents.

After retiring from working at Wonder Bread/Hostess Cake in 2003, Jim continued his love for the outdoors by fishing and hunting with his friends and caring for the neighborhood cats.

Jim is survived by his wife, Karen, and his daughter, Melissa. His son, Jeffrey, preceded him in death. He is also survived by two of his son’s close friends who called Jim “Dad”, Jimmy Lampe (and his wife Tracey and son Jayden) and Chris Gowan (and his wife Cheryl).

A memorial service will be held in Greenwood at a later date. In lieu of flowers or plants, please make contributions in Jim’s honor to the Johnson County Humane Society at HSJC.org, by calling 317-535-6626, or mailing to 3827 N. Graham Rd., Franklin, IN 46131.
