Voters invited to submit questions for GOP Indiana governor debate

The six Republicans running for Indiana governor have been invited to a debate next month.

The Indiana Debate Commission is sponsoring a GOP gubernatorial debate before a live audience from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on April 23. It will be live-streamed on IndianaDebateCommission.com and available for all media in the state to carry live via broadcast or streaming online, the commission announced in a news release Tuesday.

GOP candidates for Governor are U.S. Sen. Mike Braun; Brad Chambers, former president of the Indiana Economic Development Corp. under Gov. Eric Holcomb; Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch; Eric Doden, former president of the Indiana Economic Development Corp. under Gov. Mike Pence; former Attorney General Curtis Hill; and Jamie Reitenour. Whoever is nominated in the May 7 primary will face Democrat Jennifer McCormick and Libertarian Donald Rainwater in the Nov. 7 general election.

Voters may submit their questions for specific candidates or the whole field by going to IndianaDebateCommission.com/Submit-A-Question/. Although the commission will consider questions until shortly before the debate, voters who wish to be considered to ask candidates their questions directly via video at the primary debate should submit their questions by March 29.

The nonpartisan, nonprofit Indiana Debate Commission has conducted 24 debates since 2008, and plans to sponsor debates among candidates for governor and U.S. senator in advance of the Nov. 7 election. Eleven organizations partnered to create the commission, the oldest and one of only four state-level organizations of its kind in the country, according to the news release.
