Senate welcomes local students to Statehouse

Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville) welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse who served as Senate pages.

Bargersville: Alle Robards; Lane Robards; Tayler Robards

Greenwood: Blake Corbeil; Ethan Loos

Pages spent a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor and interacting with their state senator.

Statehouse welcomes Greenwood student

State Rep. Michelle Davis (R-Whiteland) recently welcomed local students to the Statehouse where they participated in the Indiana House Page Program during the legislative session.

Greenwood students serving as pages included Jayden Nash and Jason Stewart, who attends Emmaus Lutheran School and Hope Van Deman, who is a home-schooled student.

As pages, the students assisted lawmakers and staff with daily duties, toured offices of all branches of government in the Statehouse and joined Davis on the House floor to learn about the legislative process.

Center Grove names building teachers of the year

Center Grove Community School Corporation announces the Teachers of the Year for the 2023-24 school year. Each teacher is recognized for making an extraordinary impact on students and colleagues in his/her building:

  • Center Grove High School — Jennifer Casselman, Special Education
  • Center Grove Middle School Central — Dan Andersen, Choral Music
  • Center Grove Middle School North — David Marquez, Grade 6
  • Center Grove Elementary School — Rebekah Smith, Grade 4
  • Maple Grove Elementary School — Samantha Henry, Special Education
  • North Grove Elementary School — Christy Bailey, Special Education
  • Pleasant Grove Elementary School — Jessica Raber, Special Education
  • Sugar Grove Elementary School — Erin Brown, Grade 3
  • Walnut Grove Elementary School — Katie Chrenko, Music
  • The Academy at Sugar Grove – Kelly Blakely, Preschool

The teachers in each building select their Teacher of the Year. The overall district Teacher of the Year will be chosen by an outside university committee.

Center Grove names support staff of the year

Center Grove Community School Corporation announces the first class of honorees for Support Staff of the Year. These staff members were chosen by their colleagues for the exceptional contributions they make in their buildings:

  • North Grove Elementary School — Gregory Wampler, Custodian
  • Pleasant Grove Elementary School — Kathy Freudenstein, Special Education Assistant
  • Sugar Grove Elementary School — Joyce Hartman, Secretary
  • Walnut Grove Elementary School — Lisa Allison, Secretary

The Teacher of the Year and Support Staff of the Year will be recognized at the Teacher/Staff Appreciation Night in the Center Grove H.S. Auditorium on May 15 at 7:00 p.m.
