FRANKLIN COLLEGE SOLAR ECLIPSE LECTURE, April 4. Franklin College invites guests of all ages to campus to enjoy “The Exceptional Totality of 2024: A Once in a Lifetime Celestial Marvel,” an enlightening evening with associate professor of physics Arbin Thapaliya. Thapaliya will educate guests with an overview of the total solar eclipse scheduled to take place on April 8. The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with appetizers, with the lecture to follow at 6:30 p.m. The evening will also provide the opportunity for guests to participate in space demonstrations and virtual reality experiences, as well as use solar telescopes. Thapaliya will also provide interesting facts and pose questions to guests regarding the upcoming eclipse. The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited and requires registration. This event is a chance to learn essential fire safety skills and gain confidence in handling fire extinguishers. Firefighters will guide participants through hands-on exercises, teaching them proper use techniques and what to do after the use of one. EASTER EGG HUNT AND BAKE SALE, March 30 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Franklin American Legion Auxiliary, 1200 Park Ave. Open to the public; children of all ages are welcome!

EASTER EGG HUNT, April 13 at 11 a.m. The Town of Prince’s Lakes will host its annual free Easter Egg Hunt at the Town Hall Park. Children are invited to come and enjoy vehicle tours starting at 10 a.m. from the Nineveh Volunteer Fire Department and Prince’s Lakes Police Department. The Easter Bunny will be making a special appearance to have pictures taken with boys and girls. Kona Ice will be there to serve treats along with Enedina’s Taco Truck! The Egg Hunt will begin at 11 am. Participants are split into five age groups: 0-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-11, and 12 and older. No registration is required to participate in egg hunt, but you must register at the Shelter House for a chance to win a door prize. Come early to register for door prizes so we can start the egg hunt on time. Must be present to win.

SOUP BOWL, April 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. Mother’s Cupboard Community Kitchen will have its annual Soup Bowl Benefit at The Seasons Lodge in Nashville. Adult tickets are $30 and kids under 12 are $5. Advance sale tickets are available and are available at the door. Adult ticket holders will receive a unique hand-thrown bowl by talented Brown County potters and fill those bowls with fine soups from Brown County restaurants. Children’s tickets do not include a bowl. There will be live music and many unique items in a silent auction. Proceeds benefit Mother’s Cupboard Community Kitchen.
