ISP seeking tips in I-65 shooting; suspect traveled as far south as Greenwood

The Indiana State Police is seeking the public’s help in locating an interstate shooter who drove as far south as Greenwood Friday afternoon.

Troopers responded to a report of shots fired on southbound Interstate 65 south of downtown Indianapolis that occurred at approximately 4 p.m. Friday. The occupants of a grey or silver Nissan car, described as a black male with dreadlocks and a black female in the passenger seat, allegedly fired multiple rounds at another drive as a result of a road rage incident, said Sgt. John Perrine, public information officer.

After the shooting, the suspects exited I-65 southbound at Worthsville Road (Exit 97) in Greenwood. They then went back north on I-65 up to Raymond Street before exiting again, Perrine said in a Facebook post Friday night.

The car’s license plate appeared to be obstructed as well, he said.

ISP is asking anyone who was in the area of northbound or southbound I-65 between Indianapolis and Greenwood, and equipped with dash camera, to check their footage. If footage was obtained, people should contact the agency, Perrine said.

The agency can be reached at 317-232-8248.
