Johnson County Recycling District announces shredding, disposal events

Johnson County Recycling District and Shares, Inc. will host document shredding and electronics collection events 9 a.m. to noon on April 20, Aug. 17 and Nov. 2 at 900 Arvin Road, Franklin.

The shredding events are free and open to Johnson County residents and businesses. Documents will be collected in locked containers and shredded off-site at Shares, Inc. in Shelbyville. Electronics and general recycling will not be accepted.

The Johnson County Tox Box will also be open for residential use, 9 a.m. to noon by appointment only. Visit JCRD.org to set up an appointment time. The Tox Box is located at 1051 Hospital Road, Franklin.

The following items are free of charge to take to the Tox Box: household cleaning supplies, yard and pool chemicals, automotive fluids, poisons, aerosol cans, adhesives, oil-based paint and stains. No latex paint, batteries, or light bulbs will be accepted.

ToxBox event is open for Johnson County residents only. No businesses, contractors or small quantity generators will be accepted.
