Melva Ruth (Hartman) Floyd

Melva Ruth (Hartman) Floyd, 94, of Franklin, IN passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Homeview Health and Rehabilitation in Franklin, IN.

She was born June 27, 1929, in Springville, Indiana to Edmund and Flora (Kirk) Hartman. She married Clarence Floyd Jr. on November 26, 1955, in Bedford, IN; he preceded her in death on September 8, 2000.

Melva was a graduate of Oolitic High School in Lawrence County, IN.

She was a loving homemaker.

Melva was a great cook enjoying preparing meals for her family, loved gardening, reading, playing cards with friends and family, and babysitting her grandchildren.

She was a member of Christian Chapel Church in Morgantown, IN where she was a member of the ladies aid.

Surviving is her daughter Denise A. Parsley and son-n-law Edwin Parsley of Franklin, IN, three grandchildren Joshua M. Parsley, Matthew L. Floyd (Kathleen) and Nicholas Floyd (Erika), six great-grandchildren Keely Parsley, Aubrey Hendricks, Colton Parsley, Thomas Floyd, Rory Floyd and Ivy Ruth Floyd, and a daughter-in-law Kim Floyd of Stinesville, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Howard L. Floyd on November 29, 2023, and a grandson Blair J. Parsley on February 25, 2005, brothers, her twin Louis Hartman, Edmund Hartman and LeeRoy Hartman, and a sister Marie Wilson.

Pastors Larry McAdams and Kevin Whitaker will conduct a service on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 12 Noon at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com. Friends may call Saturday, March 30, 2024, from 10AM until service time at the mortuary. Burial will follow the service at Duncan Cemetery in Nashville, Indiana.
