Upstream, United Way to hold poverty simulation workshop Thursday

People are invited to join the United Way of Central Indiana and Upstream Prevention as they present the lunch and learn workshop “Real Life. Real Choices” in Johnson County Thursday from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event will be held at Clark Pleasant Library, 350 Clearwater Blvd., Whiteland.

Participants will engage in various scenarios based on real low-income families. They will break into low-income family units and create a month’s budget. Groups will attempt to financially navigate through unforeseen circumstances while learning about the services and opportunities these families utilize to attempt to meet their basic needs.

After the simulation, participants can join in a discussion and learn about the real-life statistics of families and individuals in Indiana communities.
