Johnson County Recycling District, youth council to recycle eclipse glasses

Visitors and Johnson County residents have a local option for recycling their eclipse glasses after Monday’s celestial event.

The Johnson County Recycling District announced Thursday that the Franklin Mayor’s Youth Council will be collecting eclipse glasses for reuse through Astronomers Without Borders Monday. The collection will take place at their booth at the DriveHubler.com Amphitheater at Youngs Creek Park in Franklin.

People should look for the “Recycle Glasses Here” signs and deposit any unwanted glasses in the bins, JCRD says.

The council will also be selling water at the event to raise money for their annual projects, members told the city council this week.

JCRD will also be collecting glasses at their Franklin Recycling Center, 900 Arvin Drive, throughout April. Any glasses that are not in a condition to be reused will have the cardboard recycled, the organization says.
