Woodmen overpower Warriors

Greenwood got out to an early lead and held it for a 7-4 home win over Whiteland on Friday. Kinsley Clark had a two-run homer for the Woodmen (1-1, 1-0 Mid-State), who also got two RBIs apiece from Emma Chism and Gracelyn Bowles. Annie Harmon drove in a pair of runs for the Warriors (2-2, 0-1).

Girls tennis

Trojans post shutout win

Center Grove opened its season with a 5-0 sweep of Terre Haute South on Friday. Lauren Dick, Sloane Small and Valeria Arriz swept the singles matches in straight sets for the Trojans, with Ava Beecher and Peri Small winning in two sets at No. 1 doubles and Annaliese Runkle and Kenna Harbin doing the same at No. 2.

Lancers blanked by Jets

Edinburgh opened Mid-Hoosier Conference play with a 10-0 loss at Hauser on Friday. Milas Burkman had the lone hit for the Lancers (3-2, 0-1).
