Grizzly Cubs open with easy win

Franklin got its season started with a 5-0 sweep at Decatur Central on Tuesday. Eleanor Stillabower, Madison Luse and Monica Sayler took the singles matches for the Grizzly Cubs, who also got doubles victories from Olivia Sappenfield and Maddie McCullough at No. 1 and Bella Wilde and Brynn Dodson at No. 2.

Franklin splits with Martinsville

Addie Martin took first in four events — 100 and 200 meters, pole vault and long jump — as Franklin’s girls picked up a 92-31 win at Martinsville, where the boys lost by a 70-53 score. In addition to Martin, the girls swept all three relays and got individual wins from Emma Bertel (shot put and discus), Aubrey Runyon (100 and 300 hurdles), Lauren Klem (400) and Kathleen Lacy (800). On the boys side, J.D. Sever won the 110 and 300 hurdles, Isaiah Tunis took the 800 and helped the 4×800 relay to victory while Alex Leugers won the long jump.

Grizzly Cubs defeat Owls

Franklin traveled to Shadowood on Tuesday and posted a 164-183 victory over Seymour. Kadin Gibson medaled with a 37 for the Grizzly Cubs, who also got rounds of 42 from Jack and Jake Lock and a 43 from Matthew Ferguson.
