Here’s what’s going on with I-69 the week of April 15

Work on the I-69 Finish Line Project continues on the southside this week.

The Indiana Department of Transportation, or INDOT, says the following work is expected to occur this week. All road work is weather-dependent and could be delayed due to inclement weather.

Lane restrictions on State Road 144 and Smith Valley Road

Expect daytime single-lane closures on the eastbound and westbound lanes of State Road 144 and Smith Valley Road over I-69 from Monday through April 22, for minor concrete patching and concrete staining work.

The westbound lanes of Smith Valley Road over I-69 will be closed from Friday at 6 p.m. through April 22 at 6 a.m. for concrete panel replacement work. The official detour will follow County Line Road to access the west side of SR 37.

I-465 Lane Closures/Stoppages

The I-465 entrance ramp for northbound U.S. 31 to westbound I-465 will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday for work on the Lick Creek Bridge.

Expect nightly double-lane closures and intermittent 20-minute stoppages at various locations on I-465 eastbound and westbound between I-65 and I-70 through Friday. Closures and stoppages are expected between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. for construction activities.

National Work Zone Awareness Week

INDOT is reminding the public this week is National Work Zone Awareness Week, or NWZAW, an annual spring campaign held at the start of construction season to encourage safe driving through highway work zones.

INDOT officials say the agency works to create safe environments on and off the road for construction staff and contractors, as well as the traveling public. Drivers should slow down, use extra caution, keep their eyes on the road, and limit distractions when traveling through work zones.
