Girls tennis

Braves defeat Greenwood

Indian Creek was a 4-1 victor over Greenwood on Wednesday. Lauren Foster, Reese Tunell and Lilly Swanson were straight-set singles winners for the Braves, while Lanie Swanson and Lexi Sichting picked up a point at first doubles. Greenwood’s lone point came from Gracie Gasaway and Moriah Ellington at second doubles.

Lancers sweep Olympians

Edinburgh blanked Columbus East, 5-0, taking all five matches in straight sets. Jessica Walsh, Izzy Richardson and Zoey Sida took the singles points for the Lancers, while Lily Turner and Mia Dodson won at first doubles and Bella Turner and Gracie Lawson were victorious in the No. 2 spot.

Woodmen top Warriors

Kalen Rowland was the medalist with a 40 as Greenwood picked up a 179-199 victory over Whiteland on Wednesday. Davis Arthur added a 43 for the Woodmen, while Cruse Glidden carded a 47 and Jahlen Burton shot 49. Will Smith paced the Warriors with a 45.

Greenwood notches league victory

Greenwood completed a midweek sweep of Decatur Central with an 8-4 win on Wednesday. Jackson Simms was 3 for 4 with an RBI for the Woodmen (4-5, 3-1 Mid-State), while Jayden Pierce was 2 for 2 and drove in a pair of runs in support of winning pitcher Logan Connor.

Lancers’ rally comes up short

Edinburgh tried to climb out of an eight-run hole but couldn’t complete the journey in a 12-9 loss at North Decatur. Austin Brockman was 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs for the Lancers (3-3-1, 0-2 Mid-Hoosier), who committed seven errors in defeat. Gabe Bennett, Avynn Whitaker and Milas Burkman added two hits apiece.

Edinburgh drops road game

A nine-run fourth inning was too much for a shorthanded Edinburgh team to overcome in an 11-1 setback against North Decatur on Wednesday. Lillie Goff had two hits in a losing effort for the Lancers (0-5, 0-1 Mid-Hoosier).
