Grizzly Cubs sweep Olympians

Franklin claimed both halves of its Saturday doubleheader against Columbus East, winning by scores of 3-1 and 8-3. Annabelle Richter and Bryleigh Carlisle-Haltom earned pitching victories for the Grizzly Cubs (7-5), who got two multiple-hit games from Adeline Blackwell. Addie Martin had three hits in the nightcap and Aubrey Leugers had two in the opener.

Trojans win Milligan Classic

Host Center Grove defeated Bedford North Lawrence 8-7 and Columbus North 19-1 to win the Russ Milligan Classic on Saturday. Riley Jand drove in eight runs on the day for the Class 4A No. 8 Trojans (10-4), including five against the Stars. Hannah Haberstroh and Mae Munson each added three hits in the BNL game, while the nightcap saw Sydney Herrmann collect two home runs and six RBIs while Taylor Barrett added a two-run homer.

Warriors take home invitational

Whiteland rallied from eight runs down to earn a 10-9 victory over Hamilton Southeastern during the Warrior Invitational on Saturday and defeated Brownstown Central by a 7-3 score. Annie Harmon and Maddy Myers each had three RBIs against HSE for the Warriors (6-6), while Myers and Josslynn Harbert drove in two runs apiece against the Braves.

Edinburgh suffers two defeats

Playing a pair of ranked opponents on Saturday, Edinburgh lost to Class A No. 8 Indianapolis Lutheran, 17-2, and took a 13-3 defeat against Class 2A No. 8 Hauser. Kenna Streeval finished the day with four hits and Gracie Barrett added three for the Lancers (0-8).

Lancers sweep doubleheader

Edinburgh won a pair of games against Crothersville on Saturday, 12-2 and 16-7. Avynn Whitaker had six hits and five RBIs on the day for the Lancers (5-4-1), who got three RBIs from Milas Burkman in the opener and three from Brayden Schoettmer in the second game.

Center Grove finishes third

Center Grove posted a team score of 312 at the Sultan’s Run Invitational on Saturday, good for third place behind Hamilton Southeastern and Westfield. Brody Holubar shot a 76 to lead the Trojans, while Nathan Springer and James Beetz both finished at 78 and Drew Hardin carded an 80.

Whiteland wins one of three

Whiteland suffered losses to Plainfield and West Lafayette Harrison on Saturday and picked up a 4-1 victory over Goshen. Cathy Nguyen and Kinsey Shipp won a pair of doubles matches for the Warriors (3-8), with Taylor Darnell notching two singles victories.

Warriors third in tournament

Whiteland finished third in a Saturday tournament at Southport, posting two wins over Ben Davis and also rallying for three-set victories over Martinsville and New Palestine but losing to the host Cardinals.

Softball still perfect in HCAC

Genesis Muñoz had a six-RBI day as Franklin College stayed unbeaten in HCAC play with 12-1 and 6-4 victories over Earlham on Saturday. Karrsen Pruitt added three RBIs in the opener for the Grizzlies (21-9, 10-0), while pitchers Lauren Duncan and Stephanni Kleber

Baseball wins home series

Franklin College took both halves of a home twinbill against Earlham on Saturday, rolling to 14-2 and 18-1 wins, before dropping the series finale on Sunday. A.J. Sanders drove in six runs during the doubleheader for the Grizzlies (16-14, 7-9 HCAC), while Tysen Lipscomb had a home run and five RBIs.
