Softball

Royals take down Trojans

Class 4A No. 4 Roncalli scored five first-inning runs on the way to a 7-3 win over eighth-ranked Center Grove on Monday. Bennie Leffler and Natalie Summers hit home runs for the Royals (10-1), while Avery Clark pitched a four-hitter. Brynn Meyer and Riley Janda drove in runs for the Trojans (10-5).

Woodmen rout Cardinals

Greenwood cruised to a 10-2 victory over Southport. Bella Blythe was 3 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs for the Woodmen (7-3), while Emma Chism also drove in three runs and joined Lilly Disney and winning pitcher Courtney Hankenhoff with two hits apiece. Kinsley Clark added a two-run homer in the win.

Girls tennis

Center Grove blanks Roncalli

No. 15 Center Grove was a 5-0 winner over Roncalli on Monday. Sloane Small, Emerson Donaldson and Peri Small won their respective singles matches in straight sets for the Trojans, Ava Beecher and Lauren Dick were victorious at first doubles and Kenna Harbin and Anna Runkle earned a point in the No. 2 position.

Braves defeat Patriots

Indian Creek took both doubles points en route to a 4-1 victory over Owen Valley. Lanie Swanson and Lexi Sichting won easily in the No. 1 spot for the Braves (6-2, 4-2 WIC), while Alaina Perry and Eliza Tharpe did the same at No. 2. Reese Tunell and Lilly Swanson were triumphant at second and third singles, respectively.

Warriors get past Dragons

Whiteland pulled out a 3-2 win over New Palestine. Cathy Nguyen and Kinsey Shipp won in straight sets at first doubles for the Warriors (4-8), with Namjeet Kaur and Rowen Starns doing the same at No. 2. Taylor Darnell picked up a victory at second singles.

Lancers edge Rushville

Edinburgh used a sweep of the singles points to beat Rushville, 3-2. Jessica Walsh and Zoey Sida were straight-set winners at first and third singles for the Lancers, while Izzy Richardson helped seal the win by coming back for a three-set victory in the second spot.
