Roland Thomas Parks

PELL CITY, ALABAMA

Roland Thomas (Tom) Parks, born March 8, 1930, entered through heaven’s gates on April 22, 2024. He grew up in Franklin, Indiana where he attended Franklin High School (1948) and Franklin College (1952). After college he enlisted in the Air Force and married Jeanne Fee Parks (1952), his wife of 64 years. Tom had a 31-year career working for IBM. He is survived by three daughters, Vicki Parks O’Connor (Steve), Nancy Parks Bray (Wes) and Melissa Parks Darden (Jeff), six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Tom had a servant’s heart and was active in volunteering for organizations such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, and the Birmingham Crisis Helpline. After retirement he dedicated his time to tutoring elementary students in math. Tom was dearly loved and will be missed by all of his family, friends, and the caregivers at the Robert L. Howard Veterans Home in Pell City, Alabama where he was residing.
