Carolyn L. Gibson

GREENWOOD

Carolyn L. (Andrews) Gibson, 87, of Greenwood, formerly of Indianapolis died Friday, April 26, 2024. Carolyn was born in Indianapolis on August 2, 1936, to the late Dorothy and Forrest Andrews, and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Gibson.

She attended Howe High School and was a member of their reunion committee. She retired in 1996 as an officer of National City Bank where she was employed for twenty-seven years. After retiring from the bank, she worked at the University of Indianapolis as a secretary in the physical therapy department. Carolyn loved to travel with her friend, Karen, and play golf and bridge. She was past president of the Ladies of Golf League at Valle Vista, and past president of the Ladies Club at St. Jude Parish in Indianapolis. Carolyn served many years on the board of directors of her neighborhood association, most recently acting as their president. She was a cantor at St. Paul Hermitage, and also volunteered for Vista Care Hospice and St. Francis Hospital.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church where she was a member and sang in the choir.

Survivors include her children, Diana K. Berryhill (Jerry), Michael Gibson (Dala), Deborah Agal (Kevin), and Denise Ware (Chris); devoted friend, Karen Phillips; thirteen grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren, one step great-grandson; four great-great-grandchildren, and many loved nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will take place on Friday, May 3rd at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. Friends and family may gather at the church from 9:30 AM until time of mass. Graveside service will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Final arrangements entrusted to Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory-Greenwood Chapel.
