Edward “Ed” Hinkle

Edward “Ed” Hinkle, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, went to be with the Lord at the age of 91 on Saturday, April 27, 2024. He was born on July 17, 1932 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Edward E. and Edna Mae (Andrews) Hinkle.

Ed was a loving husband for forty-eight years to Gloria Lynn Hinkle (Bell), she survives. Ed has two daughters, Melody Machew and Phyllis Myers; two stepdaughters, Tina Watkins and Tyra White; ten grandchildren, Jay, Kurt, Gary, Anthony, Jamie, JJ, Alisha, McKenzie, Alex, and Katelyn.

Ed served in the US Navy in the Korean War for four years and worked many years as a heavy machine operator. He enjoyed spending time with Panera friends and family. Ed loved working in the yard and gardening and always taking pride in his beautiful lawn.

He was a fire chief for White River Township Fire Department and built the first firetruck, now displayed at Station #53, on Morgantown Rd. and Fairview Rd.

To Honor Ed’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. We invite everyone to please privately celebrate Ed’s memory in your own way. We know that he will be with us all in spirit. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. He will be so greatly missed.
