Being a mom means wearing a closet’s worth of different hats.
They’re chefs, breadwinners, chauffeurs, tutors, record keepers and so much more.
On Mother’s Day, a longtime Greenwood institution is inviting them to serve one more role — guest of honor.
Grafton Peek Social Hall, housed in the historic Grafton Peek building in Old Town Greenwood, will host Blooms & Tunes from noon to 2 p.m. May 12. Moms get to enjoy live music, brilliant flowers arrangements, delectable food and mini photo sessions to make the day truly special.
“It’s really fun to be able to have a space to be able to have ideas like this and implement them, and hopefully positively impact people in the community to give them a lovely day,” said Megan Yeagy, co-owner of Grafton Peek.
The Grafton Peek has been a mainstay of Old Town Greenwood for 135 years. Construction on the building started in downtown Greenwood in 1889, and over the years, has served as a financial center, town hall, mercantile and public center. The most recent iteration was as a ballroom and event space for weddings and other special occasions.
Yeagy and her husband, Brian, purchased the building in 2023, and have worked to turn it into a unique venue that honors its history while adding modern amenities.
On the building’s second floor is Grafton Peek Social Hall, a boutique meeting and event space filled with natural light. The hall is popular for weddings, reunions and business retreats; the Yeagys felt it would be an ideal place to host a Mother’s Day lunch.
“We wanted to have a space for people to rent out privately, but also do community events and get people into the space to see it,” Yeagy said. “Mother’s Day is a great day to try and put on something beautiful and unique and fun.”
Throughout the afternoon, moms and their guests can enjoy live music by Ben Tatum, WHO IS HE. Dashboard Food Truck & Catering will provide a buffet lunch packed with sumptuous food and special treats.
Every mom registered for the event can take part in a five-minute mini photo session with Photog Boss Babe. They’ll receive a high-resolution image via email after the event to remember the day.
“When we were planning, I was thinking about what I’d want as a mom,” Yeagy said. “I love an experience and love to spend time and feel special. And I love to sit and listen to live music and be taken care of. This checked all of those boxes.”
Downstairs, Grafton Peek Mercantile — a vendor space featuring more than 40 Indiana makers selling everything from handcrafted home decor to whimsical artwork to jewelry — will be open as well.
Tickets are broken down into four different tiers. For mothers, the $95 Marvelous Mom Ticket includes admission, the buffet lunch, live music, a flower arrangement and the photo shoot.
The Appreciative Other ticket is for anyone 12 and over not purchasing the “Mom” ticket, and includes admission, a buffet lunch and live music. Ticketholders can opt-in for a craft for mom as well. A Children’s Ticket for attendees under 12 includes admission, a buffet lunch, live music and a craft for mom. All lap children under 2 are free but will need to secure a ticket.
To ensure preparation for the event, all ticket orders must be made by May 8.
