Franklin girls win at Greenfield
The Franklin and Greenwood girls finished first and second, respectively, at the Cougar Chase Invitational Friday evening at Greenfield-Central. The No. 19 Grizzly Cubs won all four relays (4×100, 4×200, 4×400, 4×800) and got wins in the 100 and 300 hurdles races from Aubrey Runyon. Also finishing first for Franklin were Ainsley Botkin (400), Lauren Klem (800), Emma Bertel (shot put) and Addie Martin (high jump). For Greenwood, Amy Luttrell was named the top performer of the meet after winning the long jump and pole vault; the Woodmen also got wins from Emma Gardner (discus) and Lilly Rollings (1,600).
On the boys side, Greenwood won the 4×100 and 4×800 relays and got individual wins from Will Riley (100 meters), Brett Odgers (400) and Sam Cassell Bertolet (800). Roncalli had a pair of double winners in Sam Vaught (1,600 and 3,200) and Seth Brosseau (discus and shot put).
Girls tennis
Warriors sweep Woodmen
Whiteland was a 5-0 winner over county rival Greenwood on Friday. Candace Stephenson, Rowen Starns and Taylor Darnell took the singles points for the Warriors (9-11), with Darnell prevailing in three sets at No. 3 over the Woodmen’s Katie Boyce. The first doubles team of Cathy Nguyen and Kinsey Shipp won in straight sets, as did the second pairing of Karley Hoagland and Namjeet Kaur.
Softball
Edinburgh hammers Cougars
Kenna Streeval pitched a three-hitter and went 4 for 4 with two doubles, a triple and four RBIs in Edinburgh’s 15-0 rout of host South Decatur on Friday. Lillie Goff and Gracie Barrett each added two hits for the Lancers (5-10, 3-4 Mid-Hoosier), with Goff driving in two runs.

Lancers drop league contest
Edinburgh suffered an 11-1 setback at South Decatur on Friday. Jared Myers doubled home Gabe Bennett with the lone run for the Lancers (10-7-1, 4-5 Mid-Hoosier).
