NWS holding virtual storm spotter training next week

National Weather Service meteorologists will host a virtual training session for storm spotters next Monday.

The interactive webinar will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. It is expected to last between 90 minutes and two hours with time for questions and answers at the end, the NWS says.

The NWS relies on well-trained weather spotters with timely and accurate reports to aid in the warning process and help save lives in their local communities. This training will discuss the role of trained weather spotters, what to look for while staying safe, how to report severe weather and how those reports are conveyed and used not only by the NWS, but also by emergency management officials, local media partners and the general public, according to the weather service.
