Franklin College

Softball fighting for tourney life

After pulling out an opening-round win over Mount St. Joseph on Tuesday, Franklin College dropped a Friday battle with top-seeded Transylvania, 5-0, in the winners’ bracket of the HCAC tournament. The Grizzlies (27-13) will go back and face the Lions once more in an elimination game on Saturday, with the winner to face the host Pioneers for the championship.

Baseball eliminated by Ravens

Franklin College saw its season come to a close with an 11-7 loss to Anderson in an HCAC tournament elimination game on Friday. The Grizzlies finish the year with a 20-22 record.

Girls tennis

Trojans get past Delta

No. 14 Center Grove beat No. 20 Delta, 4-1, in a battle of ranked teams on Friday. Val Arriz was a three-set winner at second singles for the Trojans who got another three-set victory at No. 2 doubles from Peri Small and Anna Runkle. Emerson Donaldson won in straight sets at third singles, with Ava Beecher and Lauren Dick doing the same at first doubles.
