Voter registration reopens today

Eligible Hoosiers can again register to vote starting today.

Hoosiers who do not have active voter registration have until Oct. 7 to register, and in some cases re-register, to vote in the Nov. 5 general election. Under Indiana law, legal adults who are U.S. citizens are eligible to vote as long as they meet certain criteria.

To register, a resident must:

  • be a U.S. citizen and an Indiana resident;
  • have resided in their voting precinct at least 30 days before the next election;
  • be at least 18 years old on the day of the election;
  • not currently be in prison after being convicted of a crime.

Residents can go online to register at indianavoters.in.gov. Johnson County residents can also register in person by visiting the county voter registration office at the Johnson County Courthouse, 5 E. Jefferson St., Franklin, or any license branch.

Those who are already registered are encouraged to check their registrations before voting at indianavoters.in.gov. Those who register at license branches should confirm with Johnson County Voter Registration that their information was sent over properly.
