Grizzly Cubs move into regional final

Sixth-ranked Franklin had no trouble advancing through its regional semifinal match on Tuesday, surrendering just four games overall in a 5-0 sweep of Connersville at Center Grove. Rylie Wilkison and Chelsie Rayl were 6-0, 6-0 winners at first and third singles, respectively, for the Grizzly Cubs, while Marnie Moore coasted to a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the No. 2 spot. In doubles, Kate Pinnick and Kennedy Urban claimed a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1, while the second pairing of Malea Murphy and Emma Sappenfield won by a 6-0, 6-1 count.

Roncalli defeated Triton Central, 4-1, in the other semi to fill out Wednesday’s championship match.

Cougars bounced by Saints

Greenwood Christian’s season came to an end with a 17-2 Class A sectional semifinal loss at Indianapolis Lutheran on Tuesday. Grace Kahle had two of the four hits for the Cougars (5-10), while Macey Vicars had an RBI double in the fifth inning.

Boys golf

Warriors fall against Hawks

Whiteland suffered a 177-196 setback against Decatur Central on Tuesday. Will Smith and Tysen McGary led the Warriors in defeat, both carding rounds of 47.

Woodmen beaten by Dragons

Greenwood got a 39 from Kalen Rowland but came up on the losing end of a 159-174 score against New Palestine. Barden Chase added a 43 for the Woodmen, followed by Jahlen Burton (45) and Davis Arthur (47).
