Braves overwhelm Patriots

Class 3A No. 9 Indian Creek hit the ground running in first-round action at the Edgewood Sectional, scoring nine runs in the first inning on the way to a convincing 17-3 victory over Owen Valley on Wednesday. The Braves (16-4) added seven third-inning runs to put the game away and earn a Thursday semifinal date against Northview.

Woodmen edged by Pioneers

Greenwood stayed with Class 4A No. 3 Mooresville all evening long but couldn’t get the bats going in a 2-0 loss during the opening round of the Bloomington North Sectional. Ethan King had the lone hit for the Woodmen (12-14), while Micah Vessely went the distance on the mound, scattering three hits and three walks while striking out five.
