College notebook: Rees, Proctor help UIndy at Division II World Series

Former Greenwood softball players Lexy Rees and Dominique Proctor scored two and one run, respectively, for the University of Indianapolis in its 9-0 victory over Charleston at the Division II World Series. Rees singled in the team’s next game, a 1-0 win against Lenoir-Rhyne.

The Greyhounds were eliminated in the semifinal round, losing twice to Western Washington; Proctor singled in both outings.

Center Grove

Sophomore shortstop Tyler Cerny had a solo home run for Indiana in its 8-4 victory over visiting Michigan. In the first round of the Big Ten tournament, he had an RBI double in the Hoosiers’ 8-6 defeat of Purdue.

Missouri shortstop Drew Culbertson had an RBI single in the team’s 4-3 defeat of Mississippi State at the Southeastern Conference tournament.

Alabama second baseman Bryce Eblin scored a run for the Crimson Tide in a 12-5 win over Auburn. In the first round of the Southeastern Conference tournament, he drove in one of the team’s runs in a 10-5 loss to South Carolina.

Franklin

Sophomore Erin Lee scored a run as Southern Illinois scored a 5-4 win over California in the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional. She singled in a 4-1 loss to LSU.

Whiteland

Trine sophomore Debbie Hill doubled in a 2-0 triumph over Mount Union at the Division III regional championships. She homered and pitched a two-hitter for the Thunder in an 8-0 win, also over Mount Union.
