Three Johnson County road projects begin Monday in White River Township

Projects on three Johnson County roads in White River Township will all get underway June 3, weather permitting.

Fry Road closure

The Johnson County Highway Department is planning a closure of Fry Road, west of State Road 135 to all traffic to begin on or after June 3 through November. The road will be closed for a bridge reconstruction project near the Sable Ridge subdivision.

Alternate access to and from Sable Ridge Subdivision will be available at Sable Ridge Lane. There will be no left turn allowed from Sable Ridge Lane to State Road 135. Vehicles will have to turn right and make a U-turn at Fry Road before driving north on State Road 135, according to the highway department.

Morgantown Road closure

Center Grove Schools and the highway department are planning to close Morgantown Road to through traffic between Stones Crossing Road and Pennington Road on or after June 3 and extend through early July. The closure is to install a new traffic signal and left turn lanes at the intersection of Morgantown Road and Pennington Road.

Through traffic may use Stones Crossing Road, Saddle Club Road and Smokey Row Road to bypass this closure, according to the highway department.

Daytime restrictions

The highway department and Milestone Contractors is planning single-lane traffic with flagging on the following roads:

  • Peterman Road, between County Line Road and Fairview Road,
  • Morgantown Road, between Fairview Road and Stones Crossing Road.

The daytime restrictions will begin on or after June 3, and continue through July 26. The road will re-open to two-lane travel each evening. The weather may impact specific construction days and overall project duration, according to the highway department.

The flagging is to facilitate the safe movement of traffic around milling and asphalt paving work on segments of Peterman Road and Morgantown Road.

There is no signed detour for this traffic restriction as Peterman Road and Morgantown Road will remain open with one-lane flagging, according to the highway department.
