Police collecting food for pantries at local Krogers

Two local police departments are partnering with Kroger to help fight hunger in the community.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Franklin and Greenwood police will unite to “Pack the Cruiser” at two local Kroger locations: 970 N. Morton St., Franklin, and 3100 Meridian Park Drive, Greenwood. Donations will go toward local food banks and pantries, with FPD officials saying their donations will go to Johnson County Senior Services.

Items needed include peanut butter and jelly in a plastic jar; canned fruit and vegetables; cereal boxes; granola bars; applesauce and fruit cups; instant oatmeal; macaroni and cheese cups; and canned tuna and chicken.

Low-sodium and low-sugar items are preferred.
