Timothy “Tim” Jay Lewis

WHITELAND

Timothy Jay Lewis, 72, lifelong resident of Whiteland, Indiana passed away at his happy place, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.

Tim was born on November 2, 1951 in Franklin, Indiana to Jewell and Gertrude (Coovert) Lewis. He married Marjorie Ann (Zumbrunn) Lewis on August 10, 1974. They celebrated over fifty years together. She lovingly survives. Also surviving are children, Liana Kocher (Mike) and Greg Lewis (Molly); grandchildren, Hailey Kocher, Kendall Kocher, Peyton Kocher, Ian Lewis, Mikah Lewis, Presly and Drayke. Tim was one of eighteen children, he being the 14th. He is survived by brothers, Tom Lewis, Paul Lewis, Jeff Lewis (Helen), Roger Lewis, and John Lewis (Trish) and sisters, Ruthie Zumbrunn (Jacque), Mick Chittick (Bill), Chris Ashbrook (Rich) and Mary Jo Wood. He is also survived by father-in-law and mother-in-law’s, Jacque and Ruthie Zumbrunn, Linda Hogan, and Annette Gambill; sister-in-law’s, Barbara Zumbrunn, Debbie Birt (Mike) and Linda Hogan and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in passing by his parents; brothers, Larry Dean Lewis, Otto Lewis, Kenny Lewis, Ranny (Shorty) Lewis, Bob Lewis and Stephen Lewis and sisters, Peggy Williams and Becky Beeson; brother-in-law, Jeff Zumbrunn and father-in-law, Dr. William D. Gambill.

Tim was a 1970 graduate of Whiteland High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, 101st Airborne.

He was a 50-year member of IBEW Electrical 481. He worked for several Electrical Contractors thru the years, retiring from Ermco Electric.

Tim was a Deputy Police Officer in Whiteland and also was a volunteer Firefighter in Whiteland. He served as a Precinct Committee Chairman and was a Little League Coach for many years.

Tim enjoyed traveling in the RV and fun times with family and grandchildren. It also was so special to him to take the grandchildren on vacation. He enjoyed lots of fun golf trips with friends thru the years. He loved watching NASCAR and enjoyed several years of traveling to different tracks with brothers and friends. Tim had season tickets for a few years to Michigan Track and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Tim and Margie visited all 50 states with visiting out west twice for a month, each time visiting the National Parks. They drove to Fairbanks, Alaska to see the Northern Lights. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, June 24, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin, Indiana 46131. A Celebration of Tim’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. at The Barn at Crystal Springs, 3620 Hurricane Road in Franklin, Indiana 46131 with a reception following the service. Joe Pfennig will officiate.
