College hires new director

Franklin College has appointed David DeWitt the new director of development and planned giving.

DeWitt returns to the college from Indiana University Southeast, where he served as the lead development officer. He previously worked in admissions and financial aid and from 1996 to 2000 and served as the college’s director of planned giving. Over the years, he has honed his skills by working with several non-profits and higher education institutions, including the University of Indianapolis, Marian University, St. Francis Healthcare Foundation and Damar Services, Inc.

DeWitt earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Franklin College in 1985 and an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Johnson County home sales update

Inventory continued to increase in May and homes sold quickly throughout the central Indiana area, according to F.C. Tucker Company.

During the month of May in Johnson County:

  • Pended home sales increased 14.5% compared to May 2023
  • Available housing inventory increased 34.2%

  • The average home sale price increased 9.2% to $359,983
  • Homes sold 11 days, or 21.6%, faster than this time last year.

Available housing inventory increased 26.2% compared to May 2023. Homes sold nine days, or 18.4%, faster than this time last year. Compared to May 2023, the average home sale price for the 16-county central Indiana region increased 2.9% to $360,893.
