FRANKLIN

Phillip Steven Gilliland, 83 of Franklin, Indiana passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024.

He was born on August 3, 1940 in Hartsville, Indiana to Frank and Barbara (Foster) Gilliland. He married Nancy Anna Gilliland on December 12, 1986. She lovingly survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Mary Ann Hindman (Mike) of Nashville, Indiana; Melinda Maynard (Scott) of Franklin, Indiana and Amanda Martin (James) of Bargersville, Indiana; six grandchildren, Kimberly and Kyle Hindman (Mother Mary Ann), Daniel (Allison) and Hanna Martin (Mother Amanda), Brixx and Bristol Maynard (Mother Melinda); three great grandchildren, Maddox, Tripp and Kya Martin (Father Daniel). He was preceded in passing by his parents.

Phil was a 1958 graduate of Thomas Carr Howe High School.

He retired from Tool and Die Maintenance at Cross Roads Farms Dairy.

Phil was a member of the International Carnival Glass Club, American Carnival Glass Association and Hoosier Carnival Glass Club. Phil also belonged to the Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge. Phil had a passion for collecting carnival glass and going to auctions. He had many hobbies and interests that included wood working, farming, livestock, panning for gold and playing cards. Phil was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish especially spending time with any one of his beloved dogs. He was very attentive to his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. He will always be remembered by them as “The True Genius”.
