Farm assessment, tax meeting with state lawmakers set for Monday

State lawmakers will host an informational meeting on farmland assessment and property taxes Monday.

Johnson County farmers and farm owners are invited to join State Sen. Rod Bray, R-Martinsville, for an informational meeting at 11 a.m. Monday at the White River Branch of the Johnson County Public Library, 1664 Library Blvd., Greenwood. Area lawmakers and elected officials will discuss issues related to farmland assessment and be available to respond to questions, comments and concerns, according to Bray’s office.

All local farmers and farmland owners are invited to express their concerns or to ask for changes to be made to the farmland assessment formula, according to an announcement sent to the Daily Journal by a farm owner.

Those who are unable to attend the meeting can read the Daily Journal’s coverage in the Tuesday edition, or online Monday evening at dailyjournal.net.
