George Richard Wallen

WHITELAND, IN.

George Richard Wallen, 76 of Whiteland, IN passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was born June 1, 1948, in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky to William Robsion “Robbie” Wallen and Mary Mae (McClure) Wallen. He married Rosemary (Betts) Wallen on December 3, 1966, in Franklin, IN; she preceded him in death on October 24, 2022.

George was a 1967 graduate of Whiteland High School where he played basketball.

He had been a cement truck driver for IMI and formerly Burnside in Whiteland for a total of thirty years retiring in 1998. He also farmed with his son and enjoyed bailing hay.

George enjoyed hunting and competitive raccoon hunting. He enjoyed raising horses, trail riding and camping, horse training, attending his children and grandchildren showing livestock at the Johnson County 4 H fair.

Survivors include his daughter Tammy Clark (Kent) of Franklin, IN, a son Rob Wallen (Kelly) of Trafalgar, IN, grandchildren Justin Clark (Lauren) of Trafalgar, IN, Jessica Wilson (Caleb) of Somerset, KY, Kaylynn Kahrhoff of Morgantown, IN, Monika Wallen of Trafalgar, IN, Travis Wallen of Trafalgar, IN, eight great grandchildren Grayson Clark, Gage Clark, Haylee Wilson, Casen Wilson, Colsen Wilson, Lainey Wilson, Lauren Kahrhoff and Walker Kahrhoff, his sisters Daisy Norton of Morgantown, IN ,Louise Shireman of Franklin, IN and Kathy Lawson of Nineveh, IN, brothers Chuck Wallen of Sparta, Georgia and Bobby Wallen of Needham, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister Christine Richardson and brother Elmer Wallen.

Pastor Rick Lawson will conduct a service on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 1PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/georgewallen. Friends may call Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 11AM until service time at the mortuary. Burial will follow the service at First Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
