Harold “Chip” Smith, Jr.

Harold “Chip” Smith, Jr., 57 of Franklin, passed away unexpectedly early Monday morning, June 24, 2024.

He was born on October 22, 1966 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Harold “Hal” Smith, Sr. and Patricia “Pat” (Hardwick) Smith-Bouruff who survive. Chip married Joanne (Lafary) Smith on December 28, 2013. She lovingly survives. He is also survived by children, Sabrina “B” Grass (Tyler), Tanner Anderson and Cheyanne Kushwaha (Shivom); Peepaw Chip’s grandchildren, Finny Binny and Arjun Theodore. Surviving also are sisters, Paula Smith-Englert and Stephanie Bouruff-Walker and Aunt, Ethel Savage and his beloved dog, Ella May. He was preceded in passing by his maternal grandma, Roberta Burkhart; Uncle, Paul Hardwick, Step-Dad, Jerry Bouruff and his dog, Jenny Girl.

Chip was a 1985 graduate of Southport High School.

He was employed by CTC Technologies for twenty-five years and currently was employed by DHL as a Shift Supervisor.

He enjoyed fishing and listening to every genre music, especially U2 as LOUD as he could through his speakers. He loved working in his yard. He hated stupid people and his HOA (not Sheila).

Chip loved to bake and grill and was famously known for his beans. His favorite movies were the Rocky Horror Picture Show, Wedding Crashers, Looney Tunes, Charlie Brown, Willy Wonka, and the Jungle Book. He had a very giving heart and would do anything for anyone. He had a strong heart for justice to be done. He was very smart and had a great sense of humor. Chip was loved by children and especially loved by his grandsons and daughter.

A Celebration of Chip’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin with visitation on Wednesday, July 3rd from 12:00 p.m. to time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, Indiana.
