INDIANAPOLIS
Jane Paterson Smith, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2024, at the age of 85 in her hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on August 19, 1938, to the late Robert M. and Mildred Paterson.
Graduating from Arsenal Tech High School in 1956, She extended her education at Indiana University, where she completed her studies to become a Radiology Technician.
Jane’s professional journey found its long-standing home at Ivy Tech Indianapolis, where she retired as a registrar in 2002.
She is survived by her devoted husband, William J. Smith, her children, Thad Smith and Kinda Lashley, and her sister, Mary McCollum (husband, J.R.); nieces, Stacy Irwin and Shannon Gwinner (husband, Michel).
In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her aunt, Doris Buckles.
A visitation will be Saturday, July 6th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service &Crematory, Greenwood Chapel 481 W. Main St. Greenwood, IN. A celebration of Jane’s life will be held on Sunday, July 7th at 1:00pm at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park North Cemetery in Indianapolis with a graveside service on Monday, July 8th at 10:00am.
