Wealth management firm opens new office

Coffman Wealth Management, a growing family-owned financial services firm dedicated to building financial security across generations for the past 50 years, has consolidated operations in their new Greenwood office.

Steve Coffman opened the business on May 10, 1974. He has since been joined by his sons, Mike and Joe Coffman, who have been residents of the southside for their entire lives. The three and other financial advisors with the company have been spread out across three offices in Marion and Johnson counties but have consolidated all advisors into a new office at 1266 Lincoln Park Blvd, Greenwood.

The grand opening event was a reflection of the firm’s community-focused principles and hope to serve all customers even better under one roof. Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers and Beech Grove Mayor James Coffman were in attendance. Also attending the ceremony were advisors from the firm including Catherine Quinn, James Kaiser, Paul Clodfelter along with supporting staff of Evan Coffman, Christine Brooks, Owen Spotts, Emily Jenkins, Marla Isaacs, Rachael Coffman and Diane Spotts.

Franklin Chamber to host social media classes

The Greater Franklin Chamber of Commerce is hosting a four-part small business education series this summer.

The sessions will be held Wednesdays from 8:30 to 10 a.m., at JCREMC, 750 International Drive, Franklin.

The local business community can join them for any or all of the sessions, regardless of whether they are a chamber member. There is a discount available for those attending for all four.

BAGI reports increase in building permits

The Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis (BAGI) released its May permit breakdown.

Indiana’s new construction housing market started off the year with tremendous growth of 77% compared to the previous year. By May, there was only 11% growth compared to the previous year, with 837 single-family home permits issued in May 2024 versus the 752 issued in May 2023.

In Johnson County, there were 41 permits issued in May 2023 compared to 71 in May of this year.

Bank chain completes book drive

First Financial Bank and associates teamed up with community residents to collect over 4,000 books in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois during its recent book drive, contributing to financial literacy in the neighborhoods it serves. Books were collected in all of First Financial’s locations in its four-state footprint, including those in Johnson County. First Financial will donate the books to schools, libraries and other community-focused organizations in each of its local communities.

While collecting books for the community from May 6-24, First Financial associates were also distributing a list of books and articles to support growth in financial literacy for all age groups. Titles included, “A Bike Like Sergio’s” for elementary students, “O.M.G.: Official Money Guide for Teenagers” for high school students and “The Art of Money: A Life-Changing Guide to Financial Happiness” for adults. Selections on this list cover the entire spectrum of life. The list will continue to be available in local First Financial locations upon request.
