Douglas C. Underwood

FRANKLIN

Mr. Douglas “Doug” Cecil Underwood, age 71, of Franklin, Indiana formerly of Madison entered this life on September 30, 1952 in Madison, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Clifford Earl and Bessie Orena Gosman Underwood. He was raised in Madison and later resided in Olney, Illinois then Whiteland, Indiana. He graduated in 1970 from Madison Consolidated High School. He was blessed with two sons, Douglas Earl and Rob and a daughter, Melinda. He settled in Franklin, Indiana over 20 years ago and was a reserve deputy for the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department. He also worked for over 20 years as a truck driver for Glass Rite. He retired from Caterpillar where he worked as a machinist. He was raised in the Christian faith, enjoyed working and caring for his lawn, watching TV and loved his dogs, Bubba and Sissy. He fought a two year battle with multiple myeloma and passed on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 12:25 p.m. at the IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

A LOVING FAMILY

Doug will be missed by his loving fiancee, Dianna Zimmerman Brummett of Franklin, Indiana; his daughter, Melinda Franklin and her husband, Jon of Surry, Virginia; his son, Rob Underwood and his wife, Jessica of Illinois; his grandson, Trevor Franklin; his sisters, Sandra Beatty and her husband, Mark of Columbus, Ohio, Edna Hatton and her husband, Richard of Lexington, Indiana; his future mother in law, Margaret Zimmerman of Franklin, Indiana; his future daughter in law, Annette Lane and her husband, Joe; his future grandchildren, Katie Fewell and her husband Luke and Courtney Lane; several future great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Earl Underwood, died April 13, 2003, his mother, Bessie Orena Gosman Underwood, died December 1, 2004, his son, Douglas Earl Underwood, died August 4, 1977, his brother, Martin “Marty” Underwood, died April 28, 2024, his nephews, Rich Hatton, died December 12, 2009 and Allan Robbins.

FUNERAL CEREMONY

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 5, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Morgan &Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Moffett Cemetery in Milton, Kentucky.

VISITATION

Friends may visit Friday from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Morgan &Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
