Road work to reduce I-65 to one lane between Franklin and Edinburgh

Night-time lane closures are planned on Interstate 65 between Edinburgh and Franklin starting Monday.

Indiana Department of Transportation contractor E&B Paving, Inc. plans to reduce both the north and southbound lanes of I-65 to one lane between Exit 90 at Franklin and Exit 80 at Edinburgh on or after Monday for night-time milling and paving operations in Johnson and Shelby Counties. The work will be split up between the southbound and northbound lanes, according to INDOT.

Work will start in the right southbound lane at Exit 90 in Franklin and will continue south to Exit 80 near Edinburgh. After this southbound lane work is complete, crews will reduce northbound I-65 to one lane to begin nighttime work on the right northbound lane, INDOT officials say.

Following the completion of work on the right lanes for both north and southbound I-65, crews will transition to begin work on the left lanes of I-65, beginning with southbound work and finishing with northbound work.

The night-time lane closures will take place from approximately 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., according to INDOT. They are expected to take up to eight weeks altogether, weather permitting.

This work is part of a $7.3 million contract awarded to E&B Paving in April 2024, officials say.

Officials remind drivers to slow down, use extra caution and avoid distractions when traveling near work zones.
