Festival Country: A Festival Country Indiana summer

There’s something special about summertime in Greenwood, Franklin, Bargersville and the other communities just south of Indy. There’s so much happening that this area has earned the name Festival Country Indiana. Here are some thing you don’t want to miss out on:

Franklin

Enjoy a classic car cruise-in in front of The Historic Artcraft Theatre at 57 N. Main St. July 12 from 5 to 10 p.m.

The Johnson County Fair makes its return with a celebratory parade July 13. The parade will start from 625 Grizzly Cub Drive at 1 p.m. The fair will be open from July 14 to 20 from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day at the Johnson County Fairgrounds. There will be rides, carnival games, food, music, and the demolition derby that will take place July 19 and 20 at 7 p.m.

Shop the Blocks is coming to downtown Franklin on Aug. 2 and more than 25 downtown stores and restaurants will stay open late until 8 p.m. There will be live music, artists and other fun scattered throughout downtown as well.

The Franklin Farmers Market is every Saturday through Sept. 21 from 8 a.m. to noon at 237 W. Monroe St.

Greenwood

Greenwood Park Mall has kicked off their summer concert series from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays. The July 11 concert features Shania Twin, a Shania Twain tribute band. The July 18 concert will feature Back 2 Mac, a Fleetwood Mac tribute band. The July 25 concert will showcase 7 Summers, a Morgan Wallen tribute band.

Greenwood has their summer concert series at 100 Surina Way Saturday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. The July 13 concert will showcase 45 RPM. The July 20 concert features Tastes Like Chicken. The July 27 concert features 90 Proof.

The Greenwood Farmers Market is happening every Saturday through Sept. 28 from 8 a.m. to noon with fresh farm produce, vendors with homemade items and more at 525 N. Madison Ave.

Bargersville

Mallow Run Winery is hosting their annual Red, White, and Blueberry festival at which they will release their blueberry wine and cider and have live music and food trucks. Saturday’s event is 6 to 9 p.m. and features live music by The Indigos at 7 p.m. and a fireworks finale. Sunday’s music features Living Proof from 2 to 5 p.m. The Picnic Concert series will also be continuing July 13 with The Doo! at 6 p.m., July 20 with the Toy Factory at 6 p.m., and July 27 with Woomblies Rock Orchestra at 6 p.m.

The Bargersville summer concert series is continuing their live music in downtown Bargersville from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at 24 N. Main St. The July 11 concert features Bigg Country. The July 25 concert showcases Big Roscoe & The Hammers. The Aug. 1 concert features Jai Baker Trio.

The Bargersville Farmers Market is Wednesday through Sept. 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. at 24 N. Main St.

Nineveh

RecFest is back in Nineveh July 27 from noon to 9:30 p.m. RecFest will have a 5K Fun Run/Walk, live music, inflatables, food, beer, wine and more to celebrate Parks and Recreation Month at Johnson County Park, 3097 E. 32nd St.

Whiteland

Whiteland has their farmers markets every Tuesday through Aug. 27 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 350 Clearwater Blvd.

Edinburgh

The Edinburgh Farmers Market is happening every Thursday through Sept. 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. at 201 W. Main St.

Trafalgar

The Trafalgar Farmers Market is every Thursday through Aug. 29 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at 108 N. State Rd 135.

New Attraction of the Month

FUNBOX has made its way to Greenwood with inflatable obstacle courses, slides, bounce houses and more at the world’s biggest bounce park. They’re open Fridays from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. They’ll be open through July 21 at Greenwood Park Mall.
